BLAIR SUPPORTS SQUIRREL CHARITY
The proceeds of the Atholl Estates “Blair Castle Charity Day 2006” were presented to one of the country’s leading squirrel charities, the
European Squirrel Initiative (ESI).
A cheque for over £3,300 was handed over by Mrs Sarah Troughton, Senior Trustee of the Blair Charitable Trust, to Mr Andy Wiseman, a trustee of
ESI.
“The European Squirrel Initiative is extremely grateful to the Atholl Estates for their support and the generous cheque. Events
like the Charity Day help us to draw to people’s attention the importance of preserving the red squirrel and to highlight the damage being caused by the alien grey squirrel", said
Andy Wiseman.
"The Blair Castle Charity Day was a great success and we are pleased to be able to make a donation of this year's proceeds to
the European Squirrel Initiative. The estate recognises the important work that they do, and here at the Atholl Estates we are committed to doing everything we can to help
secure the future of the red squirrel, said Peter Jarvis, BlairCastle manager.
ESI, a charity dedicated to preserving Britain’s remaining red squirrels and highlighting the damage caused to Britain’s natural biodiversity by
the alien grey squirrel was present at the Charity Day held last month.
